Mentoring
Works Through positive
reinforcement and teaching students to have self-respect, GREAT
KIDS believes that many students will make the decision to be
substance free. By mentoring and tutoring these identified at-risk
students, they will make better grades, be more confidant, be goal
oriented and less likely to get involved in drugs and alcohol.
The National
Partnership for Mentoring says that...
- 59% of all children mentored
get better grades
- 73% of those children that
were mentored raise their goals.
- A child’s mind is like Jell-O;
you want to get all the good stuff in before it sets.

of the program is multifaceted. From the noticeable, like how
these students are developing a sense of self-worth, which shows
in their posture, participation and attitude, to the measurable
achievements that are reflected on report cards in grades,
conduct and effort.”
